You’ve come to the right place. From talcum-white beaches and crystal clear blue waters to exotic locales here’s a list of the top ten honeymoon destinations. For your convenience, we’ve grouped these destinations into the following categories: the most romantic destinations, the most expensive destinations, and the most unusual honeymoon destinations.
The Most Romantic Honeymoon Destinations
Your honeymoon is a time of love and getting to know your loved one better. Here are the most romantic honeymoon destinations that are sure to flame your love!
This picturesque volcanic island in French Polynesia is hands down the most romantic getaway ever! Think crystal-clear waters, palm-beaches, idyllic mountains, thatched water chalets and perfect weather. Sounds like heaven on Earth, doesn’t it? What is a better way there to enjoy your honeymoon than revelling in island life, far away from the hustle and bustle of city life?
In your spare time, you can go scuba diving, enjoy guided tours and also indulge in relaxing massages. If you have money in your budget, why not hire a boat for an afternoon out on the ocean or better yet, a helicopter to give you a bird’s viewpoint tour of the island?
How can the city of love not be on this list? Not only is Paris one of the most romantic honeymoon destinations, it’s also one of the more expensive ones as well. However, for a getaway as special as this one, Paris’ charm and elegance are sure to win you over. From taking walks along its boulevards to tasting the exquisite food, visiting the Louvre and Tour Eiffel, and taking in the sights and sounds around you, there’s plenty to do in between your escapades!
What comes to mind when you think of Venice? Gondolas? Shopping? Italy has for many years now been a favourite go-to honeymoon destination for celebrities. Think John Legend and model wife Chrissy Teigen who had both their wedding and honeymoon in Italy in 2013. Things to do in Venice include sight-seeing the beautiful basilicas, markets, malls and piazzas. You can escape the noise of the city by taking a sunrise or sunset boat ride to any one of the nearby islands.
The Most Expensive Honeymoon Destinations
When we look at the most expensive honeymoon destinations, what tends to make them expensive is the aura around them, the privacy these places afford and also the type of clientele that book these honeymoon destination services.
Seychelles sits on this list of most expensive honeymoon destinations because of celebrities such as actor George Clooney who honeymooned here with his beautiful lawyer wife Amal Alamuddin in 2014. They spent an eye-watering £47,000 for their stay on the island.
In 2011, after their whirlwind romance, Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton also honeymooned in Seychelles. They enjoyed a luxurious £4,000 a night 10-day stay at one of Seychelles’ most exclusive and private islands – North Island.
To make the most of your trip to Seychelles take a full-day tour. You’ll get to see the main island, the island’s capital city, landmarks, and major tourist attractions such as Victoria Market, Tempio Hindu, and the historic Cathedral of Our Lady. Water activities such as snorkelling, diving, and skiing are also offered by many resorts and instructors.†
The British Virgin Islands
There is a long-stand joke about honeymooning on the British Virgin Islands. The joke is that the island’s name contains some of the best things in life – British. Virgin. Island. Apart from its apt name, the island itself boasts stunning Caribbean landscape complete with all-year great sunny weather, cool waters, palm-tree lined boulevards and a relaxed atmosphere. You’ll be reluctant to leave this little piece of paradise when your time’s up. However, in order to enjoy your stay in the British Virgin’s Islands, you’re going to need some very deep pockets if you want to stay at the really luxurious high-end hotels.
The Maldives is another breathtaking escapist paradise that’s perfect for those seeking a honeymoon in a picturesque setting. What drives the price up for honeymooning in the Maldives is mostly the flight tickets. The fact that the Maldives are dead square in the middle of nowhere makes getting to this island a tad bit expensive. This is one of the reasons why the Maldives consistently ranks among the top most expensive destinations to honeymoon in. However, for the experience that awaits you, the price is well worth it.
To help pass the time, you can indulge in excellent spa treatments, boat rides around the turquoise lagoons, snorkelling in the reefs and swimming among colourful fish. Explore the rustic villages and enjoy local cuisine. You’ll have lots of memories and stories to take away after your honeymoon.
This is where I am personally going on my Honeymoon, hopefully in 2019 – I added it to my list of places to visit in the next 5 years.

If you want to take full advantage of the odd beauty of Finland, then the best time to schedule your honeymoon should be in winter from late November to March. Think temperatures in the minus, but warm fires, hot chocolate, lots of blankets and cuddled up with the love of your life. It’s not what many would have, but it does make for a beautiful way to start a marriage, together, in a warm place, surrounded by quietness, peace, and calm.
If you and your partner love exploring the rich heritage and cultures of ancient people then this city often nicknamed the ‘Jewel of the Adriatic’ will be a dream destination for you. It’s best to plan your honeymoon for summer, so that’s anywhere between April and October. There’ll be lots of hand-holding as you tour the city and marvel at the well-preserved charm and rustic nature of the buildings. There’s a beach to enjoy a quiet evening walk and watch the sunset too.
