Bedugul: 10 outdoor activities for all the family to enjoy
Bedugul is situated up in the mountains of Bali, and offers some great outdoor activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Here are my top ten picks:
1. Water sports
Water sports on lake Bratan: this vast lake offers various options such as parasailing, speedboat rides and jet skiing. For a more tranquil experience, there are also rowing boats for hire.
2. Tree climbing
Tree climbing at Treetops: this is a favorite with all ages, providing a safe environment to climb, swing and zip line between the trees in the botanical gardens. For a small fee, you are fitted with the latest safety gear, and given a training on how to use it before being let loose for two fun packed hours.
Canyoning: Described as the ultimate outdoor adventure, this includes walking, abseiling, jumping and swimming in wonderful natural canyons. A great way to discover the real Bali, and get an adrenalin high at the same time!
Hiking up the mountains, or around the botanical gardens, there are plenty of choices for all fitness levels. You are free to roam by yourselves, or sign up for an organized trek. These range from a tough climb up Mount Catur, to a leisurely stroll around Lake Tamblingan.
5. Play golf
Play golf: The Handara Kosaido Golf and Country club is a great setting for a round of golf, and is considered one of the best courses in Asia. With the cool breeze and the stunning views of the mountains in the background, it really is a delight.
Camping: The Bali Outbound and farm stay provides a great area for camping, with an onsite organic farm to provide your vegetables while you are there. Tents can be rented or you can bring your own.

Bird watching: with the large number of birds living in this area, it is a bird watchers dream! The quiet setting allows you to hear all the bird calls clearly and to spend hours watching their every move.
Paintball: There is a great setting for paintball, where you can hide in the long grass, or behind various obstacles provided. Full uniforms are supplied so you can look and feel the part, as well as protect your own clothing from being destroyed.
ATV: various types of ATV and buggies are available to be hired and vast areas of muddy ground to test your skills. This is great fun for all ages
10. Visit a waterfall
Visit a waterfall: hike down to the impressive gitgit waterfall where you can admire its beauty, or take a swim, with the biggest and strongest shower you can find.
So there you have it, the top 10 things you should do when visiting Bedugul with the family.
